Why does the printed design look somewhat different than on the mockup?

In this post, we would like to inform you about possible deviations between the mockup and the final print result and explain the potential reasons for them. This not only helps in avoiding disappointments but also makes it easier for you to handle customer inquiries and possible complaints. Please note that the following deviations do not constitute a basis for complaint, as they are attributable to technical and process-related causes.

1. Deviations in Size

One of the most common inquiries concerns differences in the size of the designs between the mockup and the actual print. These differences can be attributed to two main causes.

-Use of different-sized printing plates:

The mockups created in the designer are not binding and typically represent a product in size L. Smaller textile sizes require smaller printing plates. This necessitates the reduction of the print design so that it can be placed holistically on the textile. Conversely, print designs on larger textile sizes may also appear smaller, as there are maximum sizes for printing plates that limit further enlargement of the design. It is important to understand that the use of different printing plates is a printing technical necessity that cannot be avoided in the field of textile

-Transparent Frames in Designs:

Ensure that your print designs do not contain unnecessary transparencies. Without this consideration, the designs may not be optimally adjusted to the printing plates, as the design can only be reduced as a whole to fit the plates.

2. Deviations in Color

Another common deviation involves differences in colors. This also has objective reasons, some of which are process-related.

-Color representation on the screen:

The color representation on different screens can vary, and even on monitors with the same settings, colors may appear differently.

-Differences in light and dark textiles:

Printing on light textiles is done directly, while dark textiles receive a white underbase. This can result in dark colors appearing lighter on dark textiles, and vibrant colors on white textiles may appear slightly subdued.

To achieve the most accurate print results, the colors in your designs should match the RGB color space. Read more about it here.
